First in our itinerary for today….
A tour to the border of South and North Korea. This tour is advised to be booked earlier and good thing my friend got a very affordable tour package for DMZ you can check it here… 🙂 it’s 1 day tour so lunch is included, we only payed 43,000 KRW each! imagine how affordable that is for a 1 day tour in DMZ!
Pick-up time at Express Bus Terminal is around 9 am, we woke up around 6 am and around 7:30 am we leave our hotel. Since, we decided to have our breakfast near the pick-up area so we arrived at Express Buss Terminal a little early. We bought our breakfast at the coffee shop inside the station (but mian I forgot the name of the coffee shop :D) and decided to have it in the bus. We had our breakfast while traveling to the next pick-up area.
How to get to Express Bus Terminal:
from Anguk Station take Line 3 Anguk OGEUMBOUND and then get down at Express Bus Terminal (11 stations from Anguk)….
Exactly 9 am our Tour Bus left the area and headed to the next pick-up point which is in Hongdae, most of the tourist wait from Hongdae. When everybody was in the bus our Tour guide took our Passports / ID, so, if you have DMZ on your list never forget to bring your Korea ID or Passport. We’re going to have a 2 hours travel to DMZ our tour guide did a little explanation what DMZ is.
Imjingak was our first stop. Tour guide let us get off the bus and give us 30 mins. to stroll the area but I think we stayed there longer than the allotted time. 🙂 that if I’m not mistaken… :P. Here you will find the so called Freedom Bridge, you can also find here a fence marking the civilian border covered with South Korean flags and vanes with wishes of freedom and reunification.
you can see also here the train which was destroyed during the war….
The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel.
Before reaching the area, there will be check point and they will ask to show your ID’s or Passport (so be sure to bring those). Oh well! I don’t know excatly why I felt nervous that time (maybe was thinking that a cute guy will……… tsk tsk dreaming!!) anyways, when I show my passport he took it…… hhmmm is he going to take me??????? take me home? FINE! I don’t have any OBJECTION! lol! just kidding… just checking my passport maybe because we are the only two (me and friend) passenger on that bus who only show our passports the rest they have the Korean ID’s which I don’t know exactly what it to call that 😛 ‘mian’! Anyhow, our tour guide told us that cameras and cellphones are not allowed when you’re going the tunnel. So, we don’t have pictures inside the tunnel not because we are too lazy to do so… though there are some in which I don’t know exactly how they sneak it out!!! though you can’t see much inside but it must be good to have atleast 1 picture though… There will be a lot of crawling??????? hunching (hunch… whatsoever! lol!) – oh well! only applicable to those who are tall 😛 at times like this I’m perfectly loving my height! 😛
The Dora Observatory
Just a 2 minutes drive from 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, here you can see North Korea using the binoculars.
Our last destination for the day. A symbol of Korea’s wish of unification.
We bought ticket for souvenir and also for us to enter the platform of the station. That cost us 500 KRW. 🙂
I won’t leave this place not having this!!! 🙂
Hahaha 😉 *wink!
here’ some random pictures taken from this days tour…
Now…. heading back to Seoul. It was a long drive going back because we are all too tired, so, we just slept along the way, because of the heavy traffic in the city we reached Express Buss Terminal a little late (around 7pm). From there we headed back to our hotel, rest a little and went out for dinner (Happy Birthday to me) which is just 50 steps away from the hotel.
After dinner we decided to visit the Festival Lantern in Cheongyecheon stream in which only 5 – 10 minutes walk from our hotel. Sad to say we haven’t get the chance to go near the lanterns.
i only have these pictures….. 🙂
That’s all for today, looking forward to our Day 3 (which not too sure when I will be able to finish it :P)…. our Day 3 will be a Tour to the Palaces and NAMSAN!
